| About Holly Durr
and Her Art |
|
I grew up
in the Appalachian Mountains of Northern West Virginia. As a
child I would go off to explore and study my surroundings. I would dig
clay out of the ground and make little animals and paint them. I spent
many days playing by myself and doodling on rocks by the river.
When I was teenager I became fascinated with the fantasy art of Sue
Dawe. I used to draw piles of unicorns and store them in a folder with
her art on the cover.
In 1997, I married my best friend, Roy. Roy and I were 19. We were dirt
poor when we first got married. My mom saw I had a great gift and
wanted me to continue with it, so she would buy me colored pencils and
art paper.
In 2005 Roy got a new job and things were looking up for us. I decided
to get my business license and pursue
my art carreer full time. Now a days, I am busy taking care of my
bright 8 year old little boy named, Jozi and my 2 year old
beautiful little girl, named
Savannah. I still draw when I find time
and sell as much as I am able.
Goals
for the future:
My
biggest goal
for the future is getting a lot of
my ideas I have, completed. I would like to get better at drawing. I
would like to get back into doing local shows and possibly some shows
out of state. Last but not least, just having fun and enjoying creating
art :)
